Orlando – We don’t usually cover chains here much, yet Café d’Avignon sounds noteworthy – heck, it started in the Plaza Hotel, and it’ll soon open five bakeries in the Orlando area. The first is all the way out in that Margaritaville Resort’s Sunset Walk, and that one seems ready to debut within a few weeks. Assuming the subsequent openings are closer, we may all get to try the quiche Lorraine, croque monsieur and baklava croissant. A sandwich with Russ & Daughters smoked salmon sounds most promising. (We call it lox, bubbelah, or maybe nova.)
