More Food Photos from Locale Market and FarmTable Kitchen

Social media fans went wild over my chestnut soup video from FarmTable Kitchen, and Edible Orlando was kind enough to post a round-up of my entire St. Pete experience. But that burger! The pizza! Dessert! (Quadruple !!!! for dessert. Chocolate was involved, after all.) I must share. How could I let snapshots of satisfying foods sit silently on my hard drive? And so, here are photos of more foods from St. Pete's Locale Market and FarmTable Kitchen. Locale Market and FarmTable Kitchen

THE  BASICS

Locale Market is a high-end grocery owned by celebrity chefs Michael Mina and Don Pintabona. Pastas, sausages, dry-aged meats, and way more are made on site. Upstairs, FarmTable Kitchen is an indoor-outdoor restaurant. It's so popular that the chefs recently expanded it. As both names implied, the chefs--the megastar duo and onsite Executive Chef Jeffrey Hileman--source their ingredients locally whenever possible.

FARMTABLE KITCHEN

Here's what I ate that didn't fit into the Edible Orlando blog post.

Butternut squash cappalletti with toasted walnut, crispy prosciutto and sage brown butter

Fungi pizza with crimini mushrooms, Taleggio and roasted garlic oil

St Petersburger Deluxe -- 'Merican cheese, applewood-smoked bacon, caramelized onion, mushrooms, and herbed duck fat fries

Yes, that good. The burger was made of dry-aged steak and ground in-house. Those fries were worth every single squat, lunge, and crunch I've done at the gym as penance. Zero regrets for polishing those off.

Michael's Mother's Falafel with roasted carrot hummus, tahini and tomato confit

And, for dessert, Pastry Chef Alicia Sherrill’s chocolate-fest called Sheneekers, a play on Snickers -- chocolate, caramel, all of it.

Sheneekers -- Flourless chocoalte cake with fudge, milk chocolate nougat, salted caramel, roasted peanuts and dark chocolate ganache served with caramel popcornand peanuts.

LOCALE MARKET

The bi-level store is enormous and crammed with raw ingredients, take-and-bake meals, and fully prepared foods. These are just random iPhone shots of a few items.

Locale olives

Octopus salad

Salmon poke

So you can see why I'm enthusiastic.

If you need a day or weekend away, and your adventures are culinarily-oriented, St. Pete might be the choice for you. Visit Locale Market and FarmTable Kitchen.

P.S. Why are some photos sideways? Why are those final five flush left when they should be centered? That's between me, WordPress, and the computer gods that torture me. It's all fine and dandy behind the scenes.
